The history of early Bayside NY is closely identifed with that of Flushing. The earliest known inhabitants of Northeast Queens — Bayside, Flushing, Douglaston and Little Neck — were the Matinecock Indians, one of the thirteen tribes on Long Island. They were a numerous and prosperous tribe who engaged in hunting and fishing. In 1962 there was a boom for building coops in Bayside and Bay Terrace, then around the 1980's,# Baybridge, #Bay club and #Towers at Waters Edge were built. Originally, Towers at Waters Edge were #Birchwood towers. These were luxury high rise rental buildings, later to become coops.
